Hayward C. Blake was born in Pushthrough and resettled to Hermitage when he was fourteen years old. Graduating from Memorial University and the University of Toronto, Hayward taught in the K-12 school system and served as principal of Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts, completing his career as an administrator in the faculty of Education at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Hayward has never forgotten his roots in Pusthrough, and he believes that the resettlement program was a significant cultural, demographic, and economic event in our province’s history, often with traumatic results, that has not been properly recognized.
Hayward and his wife, Denise, live in Harbour Grace and are grandparents to the most wonderful little girls, Blake and Rylee, fur baby Rambo, and parents to Marc and Sara and her partner, Neil.
