Jack M. Pinsent arrived in Gander during the fall of 1945 along with his mother to join his father, who was working in Gander during the war years. After graduating from high school, he went to work at the Air Traffic Control Centre at the airport and became a licensed air traffic controller. He and his wife raised two boys while residing in the town of Gander. In 1989, Jack and his wife, by this time empty-nesters, relocated to Cornwall, Ontario, where he worked at the Transport Canada Training Institute in ATC training course development. He retired in 1997 and returned to Newfoundland, where he and his wife reside in Gander.
